The Climate Smart Community Task Force

In February of 2016, the Ancram Town Board resolved to be a “Climate Smart Community,” becoming part of a state-wide effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve climate resilience.  The Climate Smart Communities Program is directed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC).  The Task Force was created by the Town to help it meet its commitments as a participant in this program, and, in general, to explore ways for the entire community to reduce its carbon footprint.


  • Suzan Flamm (Chair)- Suzan has chaired the CSCTF since 2017.  During that time she has worked with the committee, the town and the state to secure grant funding for climate smart projects, and to help develop local initiatives in the area of energy efficiency.

  • Madeleine Israel- Madeline is a town council member for over 10 years and chair of the Communications Committee, Prior to her service to the town, she was a fundraiser for Camphill Village

  • Nancy Kuster

  • Colleen Lutz- Colleen is a member of the Ancram Conservation Advisory Council (CAC).  She is employed by the New York Natural Heritage Program as an assistant biologist and a current graduate student enrolled in the biodiversity and conservation biology program at the University at Albany.

  • Bob Moss

  • Jeffrey Mousseau- Jeff is co-director of the Ancram Opera House, a rural performance hall presenting contemporary theater, cabaret and community programs.

  • Cathy Redlich- Cathy Redlich is an attorney, Ancram Town Justice, editor of the Ancram Town News, and Board president of the Ancram Opera House. She lives in Ancramdale.

  • Paul Ricciardi

  • Derek Porter- Derek Porter is owner of Derek Porter Studio, an art and design practice that explore lighting applications and spatial relationships that range from product design, interiors, landscape and urban planning. He is also an educator and currently Associate Professor with tenure at Parsons School of Design in New York City. 

Clean Energy Outreach Coordinator

Jill Falchi-Henck is a sustainability planner for the Capital District Regional Planning Commission.  She works with communities around the region to implement the Clean Energy Communities goals and objectives.  She is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Denver and Union College.
